Exhibition Update #9

Dear ISL Community.

The Year 6 students are busily working on their Exhibition presentations. Many students have opted to do a Ted Talk like presentation, whilst others are working on videos, dramas and art pieces.

At this stage, the students have formed groups to collaboratively organize, create and present their research findings. This collaboration requires them to effectively communicate and negotiate with each other and their classroom teachers and mentors.

Students are also collaborating with their Specialists Teachers and some staff member mentors, such as Mr. Holdway, to create pieces that will be part of the Exhibition.

Here are some excerpts from student journal entries this week:

And now an idea to try to help Lusaka to make it less polluted. I had an idea to write to the mar to inform him how we can reduce the pollution in Lusaka by adding bicycle ways and also having places just for bicycles to cross. If the letter does get through hopefully he changes the ways of the road so that more people would cycle around and not everyone will just putter around in cars.

Exhibition is really fun to me. It has also helped me shake my laziness of studies and now I can take responsibility for research or note taking without panicking. Exhibition has also helped me realize how hard it is to research a particular topic, but nevertheless it is FUN!

I’ve been making a lot of progress on the Exhibition. I was a Communicator because I always listen to and take Max’s ideas. One of his ideas was to make the script a little shorter and so I listened to him. I am most proud of my work in Exhibition because it does not seem like I’m falling behind schedule.
