Dear ISL Community,
The Year 6 Students are off and running on the IBPYP Exhibition!
Back in October and November the students were introduced to the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals. After discussing each one in brief, the students chose the issue they were most passionate about and explained why in a persuasive paragraph.
Here are the issues selected by the Year 6 Students:
No Poverty
Good Health and Well-being
Quality Education
Gender Equality
Affordable and Clean Energy
Decent Work and Economic Growth
Sustainable Cities and Communities
Responsible Consumption and Production
Climate Action
Life on Land
Life Below Water
Here is where the students are at in their Exhibition journey as of January 28th.
Created an initial list of questions based on the 8 key concepts
Developed an Exhibition Google Site, led by Ms. Reddy
Began research by taking notes in the form of mind-maps and Cornell notes from secondary sources
Reflecting through writing journal entries/blog posts
Introduced to MLA citation for their biography page on the Google Site, led by Ms. Chilambu
Next Steps for February:
Continue researching to include primary sources (interviews and surveys) (January/February)
Continue updating their journal entries/blog posts
Create a survey or interview an expert in a field related to their issue as a primary source of information for their research
Begin generating ideas for the presentation portion of the PYP Exhibition
Regards,
The Year 6 Students and Teachers
